of Christ. Thus it seems a presumption to offer for service in His work. The reason that I dare to hope that I may, even in spite of my own failure, be used by God, if He wills, is that I know that the missionary is but the Instrument and any victory gained in the Establishment of the Kingdom is not man’s but God’s victory. It is to me one of the wonders of our religion that God can use even the weak things to confound the mighty. I believe that or I would not be writing this letter.
If your committee can see its way to consider the acceptance of this offer, I would like to feel that it was with the knowledge of my own limitations. I have nothing to offer but the assurance that it will be my earnest + constant desire to prove faithful in any work I undertake.
It is not easy to write such a letter, and I have probably omitted many things which ought to have been said. In that case I trust you will let me know what they are.
