Dear Maclagan
Thanks for the letter. I have delayed answering it, purposely, as I had hoped to receive, in the meanwhile, some inclination as to whether there were any “Hospital” jobs available in the New Year, but so far my efforts to locate any, have been fruitless.
I do not know when it will be convenient for your Committee to meet me, nor when I am expected. Personally, as far as I know, I can travel down to London anytime early in the New Year – say the first week. As we have relatives in London there would be no difficulty in obtaining lodgings. So if you would “initiate” when, I shall be pleased to come down. I want to get affairs squared up as soon as possible + I will endeavor to meet the Committee at their earliest convenience.

　感謝你的回信，我這次刻意晚回信，想說新年期間會不會有醫院工作的機會，不過截至今日止，未收到任何好消息。
　我不知道貴委員會何時約見我比較方便，或是預計何時見我。據我個人所知，我新年初就（第一週）可以南下倫敦，且我有住在倫敦的親戚，所以住宿都不成問題。若你能「提醒」何時可以安排會面，我就馬上南下。我希望能盡快完成相關事務，並會試圖盡早與委員會會面。
