Dr. Christie was born in Glasgow and Graduated from the Medical School of the University of Edinburgh and Edinburgh Royal College of Surgeons, holding a triple degree in Medical Doctor, Surgeon, and Pharmacist. She was the first women medical doctor missionary who arrived in Taiwan in 1891 and married Rev. Duncan Ferguson in 1892. She saved many women’s lives but sacrificed her own health. She rested in peace in 1901 because of tropical disease and was buried in Tainan.
