Miss Stuart was born in S. Shields, Scotland. She and Miss Annie E. Butler arrived in Taiwan in 1885 and served for 31 years. She co-worked with Miss Annie E. Butler and Miss Margaret Barnett to start Sinlou Girls School in Tainan. In 1891, she learned “midwife” knowledge in the UK when she had a sabbatical and back to the UK. She brought the midwife skill back to Taiwan to help women from birth risks. She back to the UK in 1917.
