with a young audience. They suggest a few Chinese pictures in addition, but I do not whether it is desirable to break in to a set. The objection to a 100% aboriginal lecture is that the listeners are apt to get an unbalanced idea of the peoples of Formosa. So I personally would be glad to replace, say the last twenty of the “Formosan Savages” (set 8) with a similar number from other sets, dealing with purely Chinese life. However it is for you to say whether this can be done.
I shall not require the slides till the last week in July, so there is no hurry about finally fixing things up. I’ll send the list of slides back to you as soon as I hear whether it is permissionable to ‘raid’ other sets.
Last night I had an interesting time with the Y.P. Tilloushif at Nicholls. The discussion afterwards with questions was to me (I hope to them) instructive & I particularly admired the retort of one bright youth to my remark that we did not use compulsion in our evangelision: “if a man comes to your door selling something, he cannot compel you to buy – but by staying there & refusing to go away, talking all the while, its almost the same as compelling you” (or something to that effect).
