Dr. Peter Anderson served in Tainan and Kaohsiung from 1879-1910 for 31 years. Dr. Anderson graduated from the Medical School of the University of Edinburgh and the Edinburgh Royal College of Surgeons.
The first Western standard hospital in Tainan was established by his efforts. He moved Tainan Christian Hospital to a new land to solve the land struggle of the old medical clinic started by Dr. James L. Maxwell in 1865. This hospital still operates and has developed into a big hospital in southern Taiwan. This hospital was named Sinlou Hospital and started to offer medical services in 1900.
