Reverend William Campbell was born in Glasgow. He graduated from the University of Glasgow and then started his theological study at the Free Church College in Glasgow for 4 years. He arrived in Taiwan in late 1871, in 1872 he started the pioneer work to spread Gospel to central Taiwan. He planted Changhua Church, he established the very first school for the blind named ”訓瞽堂”.
