In 1864, Reverend Carstairs Douglas Accomplished with Dr. James L. Maxwell visited Taiwan and surveyed a potential mission base. In 1865 Dr. Maxwell arrived in Taiwan formally to start Medical Mission works. In 1896, Dr. David Landsboroufh III and Reverend Campbell N. Moody arrived in Changhua to start their mission works. In 1923, the Presbyterian Church of England Mission and the Presbyterian Church of Canada Mission had developed a good cooperation relationship for many years for the Gospel.
