Blind people and Leprosy patients were two typical poor groups who couldn’t have fair opportunities to survive in Taiwan in the 19th century.
Reverend William Campbell established the very first school for the blind named “訓瞽堂” in the late 19th century.
There were many missionaries involved in Leprosy patient care such as Dr. James Maxwell Jr., Changhua Christian Hospital had a special clinic to take care of them.
