The very first medical missionary in central Taiwan was Dr. Gavin Russell. He started his medical service in Changhua in 1890 when he was 24 years old, but he rest in peace in 1892 by Typhoid Fever attacked.
In November 1896, Dr. David Landsborough III and Reverend Campbell N. Moody arrived in Changhua, and the medical mission clinic re-opened.
The hospital got the business permit in 1899 from the Japan governor in Taiwan. The first-generation hospital building was finished in 1907 and named “British Changhua Christian Hospital”.
Blessing by God, Changhua Christian Hospital has developed into a major medical research and health care center in central Taiwan.
